Work and Studies
MIC, Uppsala Universitet, Sweden
I am a Ph.D. student at the Department of Information Technology of Uppsala Universitet since October 2008. My research area is in the field of real-time systems, in particular about models and timing analysis of multi-core systems. I'm happy to be back in Uppsala after I already spent a year here as an exchange student. Already then, I was working in a research project with Wang Yi and Pavel Krcal about Timed Automata in the UPPAAL Research Group.
Johann von Neumann Haus, Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, Germany
In August 2008, I finished my undergraduate studies with a "Diplom-Informatiker" degree (German equivalent to M.Sc. in Computer Science) after 6 years of studies at the Department of Computer Science of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. I had mathematics as secondary subject and was supported by a scholarship of the German National Academic Foundation. From summer 2006 to summer 2007, I was an exchange Student at Uppsala Universitet, Sweden. After that, I joined the work group of Prof. Köbler for teaching and research in the field of cryptology and complexity where I also wrote my diploma thesis. That work was about reducing interaction in cryptographic protocols by applying derandomization techniques.
I was further involved in research projects at the Systems Architecture Group (at HU Berlin) on a working basis in 2005/2006, dealing with Wireless Mesh Networks, Personal Area Networks and Reputation Management Systems. Before that, I got some experience in systems administration in 2004/2005 at the IT department of Sulfurcell Solartechnik GmbH.
Yes, this section was (mostly) anti-chronological!

Computer Stuff
A ZX81 computer from 1981
Just loosely connected to my studies is my interest in Free Software. In particular, I'm a maintainer within the Debian Project, taking care of packages in what is the largest GNU/Linux Operating System and my OS of choice. Packages I'm responsible for right now: wmweather+
The picture on the right is btw a Sinclair ZX81, the computer I started with around 1988, with the size of roughly my todays X-Series ThinkPad. (Picture taken from my brother's homepage, with whom I spent days and nights back then, tinkering around with the 1k RAM of this funny machine. The 16k extension was broken, unfortunately...)
Other stuff somehow connected to computers:
- If you want to send me encrypted mail, please use my PGP/GnuPG-Key. (ID: 0xD5CE4FE9) In case you live near Berlin (Germany) or Uppsala (Sweden) and are interested in keysigning, don't hesitate to contact me! Fingerprint:

Music
My trumpet
My grand piano
I have actively been playing music for most of my life. My main instrument for many years was the piano, but I recently also started playing the trumpet. Over the years, I took part in several workshops (e.g. Jugend jazzt 2000 and 2002, "Nights And Days In Tunesia", Jazz in Side 2005).
I played in several ensembles from duos and trios up to bigbands, among them the LaJJazzo, Youth Bigband of the state of Brandenburg (Budapest tour 2002, México tour 2006), and of course Humboldts Bigband, the Humboldt University's jazz orchestra which I founded in spring 2006 together with Lars Dieterich. In Uppsala I was playing in the Tupplurarna bigband and singing in the Västgöta Nationskör, a local student choir. See you at the next gig!
Random Stuff
Stuff that doesn't fit anywhere else:
- There was some trend to "order inner energies" (just in German, unfortunately...), so I also decided to provide a technology to help you with your inner energies. (Use it fullscreen for best effect!)
